INDIGENOUS organic + fair trade fashion

Something we can’t get enough of at Raintees are inspiring companies with a social and environmental conscience. INDIGENOUS organic + fair trade fashion, is one such brand that we love. Created by Scott Leonard and Matt Reynolds in 1994, their line utilizes all natural materials and low impact dies, free of both heavy metals and harmful chemicals. By using natural materials, they are able to fulfill their commitment to produce clothing that honors the environment and doesn’t bring added harm to local water tables or communities where the garments are produced.

Their line works with local cooperatives in South America to preserve time honored traditions of kitting practices and hand looming. They also work closely with local NGOs to ensure safe, properly equipped working environments. Most importantly, they strive to ensure that each of the artisans that works with them is receiving a fair living wage that is significantly above what they might earn working independently.
