Glasstic is the reusable glass bottle that won’t shatter

Glasstic Water Bottle is a company that’s taking a spin on the typical glass bottle. In the last decade consumers have become more aware of the toxins found in plastic (even BPA-free plastic), leading to an increase in demand for reusable glass bottles. Many people, however, are turned off from glass bottles because of their tendency to shatter when dropped, even when the glass bottles have a rubber or silicone coating. Glasstic has revolutionized the standard glass bottle by creating an alternative break-resistant shatterproof product – a bottle that’s essentially a hybrid between plastic and glass.

While normal glass bottles will shatter if dropped, Glasstic bottles on average take 6 drops to break (Watch a demo of the bottle dropping here!) and all the broken glass is containted in the outer shell making cleanup safe and easy.  These unusual results are due to how Glasstic bottles are built. They consist of two layers; one glass and one BPA-free plastic. The glass layer is the innermost layer, and the only layer the liquid touches. The glass slides inside of the durable plastic and the two layers get secured together by screwing on a silicon base. The top is either a rubber silicon gasket with a handle and a cap with a lock to prevent leakage, or a standard screw on top.
16 ounce Glasstic bottles sell for $14.99 – $19.99 per bottle (depending on the type of lid). Seeing that 16 oz plastic bottles bought from a store can often cost up to $3 or $4, a Glasstic Bottle will easily pay for itself in no time. If the bottle gets dropped and the glass does break, the shattered glass and liquid will be contained in the plastic layer.  This means no mess on the floor – all you need to do is empty the contents into the garbage can, or strain the water out and recycle the glass. If this happens, Glasstic will send you a new glass container for $7.99 (includes the cost of shipping), which you can easily slip into your original plastic container.
There are many other reasons why Glasstic bottles are superior to other types of bottles. The liquid inside a Glasstic bottle will stay cooler for longer than it will in a plastic bottle, and water will taste fresh and pure from being against glass rather than plastic or metal. The glass layer is dishwasher safe, though the company recommends washing the plastic components by hand, and the cap and base are fully recyclable. You can choose the color of the cap and base from 6 solid colors and 4 fun prints, and if you’re with a company you can even customize them with your logo. Because the bottle is double insulated it means it won’t “sweat” and get slippery with condensation when a cold drink is inside, and it’s beach, pool, and yoga friendly because the glass is contained in a plastic shell!
